This sub-regional workshop brought together participants from three countries in one workshop, namely Central African Republic, Chad and Cameroon, with 30 participants and 10 in each country in a semi-presentation. This enabled them to improve their digital skills in using their smartphones to reach the public in times of crisis and covid-19.

A 2-day training course from 22 to 23 February 2022 was held in six (06) sessions was organised by the Centre for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA) with funding from UNESCO's IPDC (International Program for the Development of Communication) project.

The Somatel police academy hosted the participants from Cameroon, the SENEVE SURL conference room hosted those from CAR and the media room hosted those from Chad.

2.      Innovation of the sub-regional workshop

To ensure the success of this inter-country event, CECOSDA introduced a number of innovations to connect the three countries that took part in the workshop without interference, such as

  • Atraining of trainers was set up before the workshop.
  • Internet KIT, 4G boxes were offered as part of the workshop organisation.
  •  A dynamic whatsapp group was created to ensure continuity of work and correction of visuals after the training.
  •    The capacity of the green alert network was strengthened and a website for community journalists' publications is being developed to ensure continuity of the training.

These innovations at the workshop brought smiles to the faces of the participants. They thanked IPDC and also CECOSDA for organising the training workshop for community journalists in times of security crisis and hope that this partnership will continue to support this type of training.
